1. Overview and Principles

Vort Cloud offers unmetered services designed for legitimate business and technical applications. This Fair Use Policy ensures optimal performance for all customers while maintaining our commitment to transparent, unlimited resource access.

2. Fair Use Standards

2.1 Legitimate Business Use

Unmetered resources are intended for legitimate applications including:

  • Web applications and API services
  • Content delivery and media streaming
  • Database operations and analytics
  • Development and testing environments
  • Scientific computing and research

2.2 Shared Infrastructure Responsibility

While resources are unmetered, usage patterns must not materially degrade service quality for other customers sharing infrastructure components.

3. Network Usage Guidelines

3.1 Unmetered 10Gbps Networking

Bandwidth is genuinely unmetered with no hard caps or overage charges. However, sustained maximum utilization (>8Gbps for 72+ consecutive hours) may trigger engineering review for capacity planning.

3.2 Acceptable Network Applications

  • Content delivery networks (CDN)
  • Video streaming and live broadcasting
  • Real-time data synchronization
  • Backup and disaster recovery
  • High-frequency trading platforms
  • Scientific data transfer

3.3 Network Usage Requiring Coordination

  • Public proxy or VPN services (commercial scale)
  • Tor exit nodes or similar anonymization services
  • Large-scale data mirroring or archival projects
  • Peer-to-peer file distribution hubs

4. Compute and Storage Resources

4.1 CPU Utilization

Sustained 100% CPU utilization is expected and encouraged for dedicated resources. High CPU usage on VPS may require migration to dedicated servers for optimal performance.

4.2 Storage Performance

High IOPS workloads are fully supported. Extremely high sustained IOPS (>50,000 per allocated vCPU) benefit from consultation with our engineering team for optimization.

4.3 Memory Usage

Memory allocation is fixed per service tier. Memory-intensive applications should select appropriate service tiers during provisioning.

5. Cryptocurrency Mining Policy

5.1 Prohibited Mining

Mining is prohibited on:

  • Shared VPS instances
  • Services primarily intended for other applications
  • Any service where mining impacts other customers

6. Monitoring and Communication

6.1 Proactive Resource Monitoring

GeekCloud continuously monitors resource utilization patterns to identify optimization opportunities and prevent service degradation.

6.2 Customer Engagement Process

If usage patterns approach levels affecting other customers:

  1. Initial contact via email with usage analysis
  2. Engineering consultation for optimization recommendations
  3. Service tier recommendations or dedicated resource options
  4. 14-day resolution timeline with customer cooperation

6.3 Transparency Commitment

No service suspensions for resource usage without prior communication and resolution opportunity, except for emergency infrastructure protection.

7. Resource Optimization Support

7.1 Engineering Consultation

Customers with high-intensity workloads receive complimentary engineering consultation for:

  • Architecture optimization recommendations
  • Performance tuning guidance
  • Capacity planning assistance
  • Cost optimization strategies

7.2 Service Tier Migration

Seamless migration options available for customers requiring:

  • Dedicated server resources
  • Enhanced network connectivity
  • Specialized storage configurations
  • Custom infrastructure arrangements

8. Measurement and Transparency

8.1 Real-time Metrics

Customers access detailed usage metrics via API and web console, including:

  • Bandwidth utilization (95th percentile calculations)
  • CPU and memory consumption
  • Storage IOPS and throughput
  • Network connection statistics

8.2 Fair Use Thresholds

Specific usage thresholds triggering engineering review:

  • Sustained >8Gbps bandwidth for 72+ hours
  • Consistent >50,000 IOPS per allocated vCPU
  • Resource usage patterns significantly above service tier norms

8.3 Advance Notice

Minimum 7 days advance notice for any fair use policy changes affecting existing customers, with grandfathering provisions for current usage patterns.
